The glorious foundation of Gop College was laid in the year 1978-79 fulfilling the long cherished desire of inhabitants of Gop Block on the is day of July 1978.THE class was stated on the 6th day of Nov. 1978 in the building of Gopal juw pathagar, then after in Nigamananda High school. The college was shifted from Nigamananda High school to its own building. The college was started with in by the Govt. In the year 1980&was affiliated to utkal University in the year 1981. The college received Govt. Concurrence for degree classes in the year 1989 and was affiliated to the Utkal University in 1990. The Govt. Was pleased to open Vocational studies at+2 level from the year1990-91. The student strength of the college is now around 1500.

It is matter of pride to mention here that this is the College in the nearby periphery which provides.
Law as an honours& pass subject at Degree stage under the Utkal University.
Right from its inception, the college has been ceaselessly functioning to provide higher studies to the students in number.
